Therapy support tailored for you.
About me
Jessica Taylor (she/her/hers)
My personal path to becoming a therapist was a winding one. I had moments in my life where I was able to look back and reflect on the different, younger versions of myself and I wished that at those points she had had someone in her corner. It is one of the main reasons I decided to pursue my work in therapy. I am honored to engage in the work that I do and I am in awe of my clients that allow me to hold space with them.
My previous career experiences shape the therapist I am today. I found myself ticking boxes with my first degree, a Doctorate of Pharmacy. Pharmacy opened up access to more options in certain aspects of life and at the same time I found myself supporting others in a system that did not seem to honor the wholeness of them. I started to wonder and began to explore if there might be more out there for me. I then pursued a career teaching yoga and movement, yoga nidra and mindfulness in a variety of settings from studios to retreats and festivals. Yoga was a practice that connected me to strength, both physically and emotionally. I also connected to authenticity, empathy, and compassion in ways I never had before. I then found myself at another crossroads in how I might engage with others even more holistically. Along the way, I had my share of ups and downs, losses and struggles that felt like falling into an abyss, as well as a late diagnosis of ADHD. I am here because of my own inner journey as well as the communities, people, and supportive therapists that my winding path led me to meet.
When I’m not in the therapy space, I enjoy functional movement practices and getting into nature. I love taking in live music and comedy shows. I also dig time at the many local coffee shops we have ( and exploring new ones when I travel)!
As a therapist
I think it can be normal to find therapy awkward, uncomfortable, or anxiety provoking, especially at first, and so it is really important to me to help create a space that can be tailored to support you as much as possible. I collaborate with you to uncover what you value, the person you would like to move towards being, and together we create a path that helps you move in the direction you would like to go.
I use an integrative, client-led and trauma-informed approach that blends complementary therapeutic modalities to hold space for both your mind and body in sessions. The heart of which is a desire to understand you, to invite in curiosity, and to help support you in embodying your potential. Empathy and compassion play a big role in this as well as a little laughter. I will also lean into activation, discomfort, and challenging you at times. This is done with the explicit understanding this is your place to let me know when it is too much, when it is a “no”, or when I’ve mis-attuned. I use a feedback-informed approach to learn how to better support you.
I love to have my learning hat on. I am often in the process of further training in my main therapeutic modalities as well as other methodologies that complement those. I seek ongoing consultation and supervision so that I can continue to offer support that is not one size fits all.
I strive to create an environment that is supportive of clients with sensory processing sensitivities and trauma, as well as clients who are members of LGBTQIA+ and other marginalized communities, and those of all backgrounds, religions, and ethnicities.
I believe in your potential.
